Phoebe Jo Alexandra Watson, (1/4 Choctaw)
1814 - 1870 (56 years)-
Name Phoebe Jo Alexandra Watson Suffix (1/4 Choctaw) Born 1814 Kentucky Gender Female Died Apr 1870 Hatfield, Polk Co, Arkansas Research Notes 27 May 2014 - Calculating percentage of Choctaw blood is proving to be complicated. Her son William applied for Dawes, stating he was 1/8 Indian, meaning Phoebe was 1/4. Witnesses stated that she was niece of Hiocatubbee, who was full Indian; and that her brother was Isaac who was Indian (percent not stated). Sarah Irena Watson married a brother to Phoebe's husband, and there's a write-up floating around on the Internet stating that Sarah was full blood Indian, but no source was given. Perhaps Sarah and Isaac were full by another marriage somehow and half siblings to Phoebe? Taking the facts at hand if William was accurate that he was 1/8, it looks like this might be the line-up:
1. Indian father
+ Indian mother 6g grand
2. Hiocatubbe (uncle to Phoebe)
+ white mother
2. Phoebe?s mother 1/2 5g grand
+ Phoebe father Watson (white)
3. Sarah Irena (if she?s a sister)
3. Isaac (stated as an Indian and a bro to Phoebe)
3. Phoebe 1/4 4g grand
+ m Sam
4. Wm 1/8 as he states
+ Josie (she and the children (1/16) were labeled as Mulatto in 1910 census)
