Lynaugh Helm died soon after the war. In 1796 his son Achillis Helm, deeded 750 acres of his Illinois grant to Col. Simon Triplett of Loudoun County "in consideration of the trouble and expense of the said Triplett in getting a law passed by the Virginia Assembly to carry into effect his claim of 3,334 acres to which Leonard helm, father to Achillis, was entitled in right of his command in the Illinois Regiment."
